Fast Forward

It has been exactly one year and one month since my last post. My, how time flies when one is relentlessly pursuing their passion!

As you know, I had to give up my blogging as part of my employment at a major Private Wealth Bank. My tenure there was an unbelievably exciting experience and afforded my an opportunity to work with some of the best and brightest this industry can offer.

It also put me in contact with some of the wealthiest and most powerful women and men on the planet.

But now I am back. Back to my roots, and my core mission: to help women of wealth create their unique "social biography", and begin to fulfill their dreams and aspirations, for themselves and those around them.

We are living in an age where women and men must make a co-investment today in order to assure a bright future for both genders in the future.

In my opinion, no other group gets this more than the 85 Broads co-founded by Janet Hanson and other ex-Goldman Sachs executives as a means of keeping connected. From it's humble beginnings, it has grown to include over 22,000 women from all around the world.

I am honored to have been recently selected as one of their "Guys Who Rock" honorary members. I encourage all of you to consider joining this group as it will connect you with the brightest and most committed group of women I have ever encountered.

I look forward to having an opportunity to reconnect with all of my faithful followers now that I have fast forwarded back to the digital age. Technology has made it possible to bring new relationships to bear to solve age old problems. I hope you consider this blog a forum for connecting the many dots that make up our "dot com" society.

Please look for the return of my regular Wednesday's Women of Courage post beginning next week along with Saturday's Life Style Lifters post which will feature great tips on living well and enjoying it more.

Until then, remember to believe, achieve, receive. SDG, JBHIV

Until we meet again

It is with both joy and sorrow that I use this, my final post, to announce that I will be joining a major Private Wealth organization effective 4/20/09. Because of SEC and Finra compliance restrictions, I cannot continue this forum.

The Firm I am joining has a long and storied history of serving generations of wealthy clients from around the globe. I look forward to an opportunity to continue this tradition and exemplary level of service to Women of Wealth. There has never been a better time in our history to continue leveraging the wealth of our citizens to the betterment of the planet as a whole. Without the "wealth engine" there can be no civilization, progress, or peace.

During my time as blogger on this site, I have received page views from Europe, Asia, and the Americas. This is a testament to the depth of interest in all things that impact the lives of Women of Wealth and their social biography regardless of where they choose to live.

I hope to continue our dialog through email. I will be contacting each of you individually with my new contact information. If I can ever be of service to you, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Until we meet again, continue to believe, achieve, receive. SDG - JBHIV

Vaycay

I'm taking some much needed time away to prepare for my next phase of service. When I return, I will continue this blog and catch up with all of you.

In the meantime, I suggest you visit my friend Jacki Zehner's blog site, pursepundit.blogspot.com . I'm sure you will learn much, and think hard. She is one of the finest examples of women of wealth I can think of.

TGIF - National Chocolate Mousse Day!

Those of you who share my passion for chocolate - rejoice and celebrate! Today is OUR day. There is perhaps nothing more comforting than a piece of fine chocolate. Despite many downsides, moderate consumption of chocolate has been shown in recent medical studies to aid digestion, lower blood pressure, and slow down the aging process. Chocolate may not bring order to our current economic condition, or promote world peace, but we should all stop what we are doing today, and pause to reflect on our social biography while enjoying any form of it.

On this day in 1860, the Pony Express was established. Women's role in this historically significant method of communication is largely a mystery. For a glimpse at what is known may be found in a book by Melba Rey-Jeal titled "Women and the Pony Express: A Modern Tale of Changing Tradition". My, what progress we have made in the area of rapid communication, and in women's rights and influence since the introduction of this chain of individuals
that took an oath on the Bible of honesty and devotion to duty and went on, despite the daily threat of death, to carry the mail 616,000 miles--equal to 24 times around the earth--during the 18 months the enterprise operated. Sadly, it was the introduction of the telegraph - a precursor to today's Internet that led to it's demise.

And so it is with countless other institutions -including the breaking of "the Glass Ceiling". It is the so called "Innovators Dilemma" at work, which has been studied by HBS Prof. Clayton Christensen and others, seeking to determine how sudden shifts in technology or social conditions can bring about rapid change.

We are clearly in a period of rapid change. Some of it good, some bad. But one thing remains constant -women will continue to play an increasingly significant role. Take time today to reflect on YOUR role. And enjoy that chocolate!

What's the Longest River in Emerging Markets?

"de-Nile". This is a quote from a recent piece in the Washington Post on banking and the emerging market economies. It provides a good perspective on how financial markets can be manipulated by few, to the detriment of many. While there are precedents to the current economic crisis that we can analyze and learn from, the situation is much like a strain of flu that "mutates" into a stronger more virulent form, and becomes resistant to drugs created to combat it. These are truly uncharted waters, and many outcomes are possible.

For Women of Wealth, what is most important is to be aware of the "macro" economic perspective, and use this to create up a "micro" or tactical approach to financial planning and build toward a positive outcome. The ultimate goal is to provide financial independence by which you can live out your social biography, and create a better world - for your children, your parents, and yourself.

There will continue to be pockets of opportunity amid the current crisis to invest into Emerging Markets. This has traditionally been the areas of highest growth. Once we get past the current set of issues with the world banking system, these markets with continue to grow. What we need to prepare for, is the strong possibility that the US may experience a prolonged period (a decade?) of stagnant growth, much like Japan in the 1980's. With a well conceived social biography and underlying financial plan, you can get past the present and into a bright and prosperous future!

Wednesday, April 1- Profile in Womens Courage

Despite the dire warnings of experts that the Conficker virus would create chaos within many Win-tel computers, I am, so far, unaffected. My guardian Angel has my back once again.

This week's Profile in Women's Courage post is about an angel of another kind. It has been said that "When a heart calls, an angel will answer." - Unknown. Kathy Giusti has answered the call many times. And despite her own personal challenge with Multiple Myeloma, she finds time to give hope to so many. Click here for more on Kathy and her background and efforts with MMRF.

I have also included a video of her recent CNBC Interview as part of the Harvard Business School's series, The Money Chase, on our womenlighte.ning.com social network site under the "Must See Vid" tab. Under the "group events" tab you will find a link to the MMRF Race for Research page. There are several scheduled for this year, and I am hoping to get many of you here in the Lower Fairfield County area to join me for the Tri-State event this summer. If we get enough to participate as a group, we can consider sponsoring a tent.
