Lifestyle Lifters: A Heavenly Fragrance for a Worthy Cause

As most of you know, The WWRG Social Media Networks has grown to include other forms of connecting and this blog, and in particular, this segment which we call "Lifestyle Lifters" has not seen any post since 2011.

I see by the sidebar that many of you continue to log in (WOW! Five continents, and who knows how many countries!) so I want to take this opportunity to highlight a wonderful product I came across that is sure to be fashion & beauty's "next big thing"

It's a fragrance created by the Founder and President of Stop CAID Now, Lisa Moreno-Dickinson, the proceeds from the sale of which goes 100% toward helping spread awareness of this cluster of 29 auto-immune disorders affecting children, help doctor’s to properly diagnosis these children, and raise money for the cause. StopCAIDnow.org is currently an internationally known 501c3 non-profit organization, raising awareness for doctors and families worldwide.

Lifestyle Lifters - Fashion for Development

Where in the World are our WWRG Jetsetters these days?

Judging by the map of visitor's locations on the sidebar to the right side of this page - practically everywhere!

As I indicated in my post last November, we are moving swiftly toward our goal to become the leading resource for Women of Wealth and Influence by bringing you on-demand, real-time content on Social Media Technologies that are now the most rapidly growing base of users - Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIN.

Since our relaunch in January 2011, our own Face and Voice of WWRG - Evie - has been around the world of fashion, both literally and virtually.

We are excited that her "Fashion for Development" project in conjunction with South South News, is now in full swing and receiving rave reviews. South South News is a leading digital media platform for the countries of the South that is facilitating, connecting, and publishing news on various efforts in sustainable economic and social development to audiences and multiple constituencies not only in the South but also around the world.

In a series of interviews conducted during NY Fashion Week last month, Evie highlighted the new collections of some of the world's most famous and socially involved designers including IvanaHelsinki (Paola Suhonen), Norma Kamali, and Zang Toi.

In these interviews, you will hear IvanaHelsinki speak about her support of UNICEF Dolls, Norma Kamali talk about how she helped girls in an Orphanage in India by using their embroidery in her clothing line, and Zang Toi's thoughts on how fashion can help women in developing countries - his support of battered women in Madagascar via his charity work there is just one example.

Here are the interviews courtesy of South South News:

Lifestyle Lifter's - Holiday Checklist V.1

On your mark. Get set. Go! The annual holiday season is fast approaching and if you are like most of us, there is a feeling of "Where has the year gone, and how can it be November already!"

Well, consider this your wake-up call.

After today, there are 26 days left until Thanksgiving as celebrated here in the US. There are 56 days left until Christmas.

Have I gotten your attention?

Today's post is one of a series we will be doing on "Holiday Tips for the Wise". Many of you have a very hectic schedule. Some call it the "Jet-Setter's Lifestyle".

Holiday Tip # 1: Divide and Conquer!

For those of you with more money than time, may I suggest an email to my good friend, Pamela Tobiason of Family Concierge and More.

Pam, her expert staff and her many connections can take on all of your shopping, scheduling and personal calendar needs during this busy Holiday Season.

Holiday Tip # 2: Get your Invitations and Holiday Cards Out Early!

This year, in lieu of a Holiday party, we are hosting a "friend-raiser" in support of Jane Do No More, Inc. We have partnered with Papyrus and Spark who have graciously offered to send an invitation from their elegant line of Letter Pressed stationary to each of our invitees (see graphic above).

Set an Outlook entry today to send an email on Monday to Dani LaTorre, Papyrus Flagship Store Manager

In a world where more and more people choose e-cards for convenience, nothing says "Classy" more than receiving a hand-addressed Envelope containing a beautiful invitation or Holiday Card.

Make sure you order these early (printing times vary by style) and get them in the mail well before the US Postal Service deadline for Holiday delivery. "better late than never" is not a good thing when a card arrives on New Year's Day that says "Merry X-Mas"!

Look for more Tips in next week's installment of Lifestyle Lifter's.

Until then, have a Happy and safe Halloween (one day left)!

Lifestyle Lifters - Imagine a World at Peace

Today marks what would have been John Lennon's 70th Birthday. It is hard to imagine that there is anyone on the planet that does not know who he was or what he stood for.

His mission to promote world peace is carried forward by his widow, Yoko Ono, who was a driving force and a true soul mate.

She is in Iceland today marking John's untimely death over 30 year's ago with a series of celebrations .

While many think that when she and John got together, her influence over him was a bad thing. I think that it was just the opposite.

If John were alive today, I believe they would still be united in working tirelessly for World Peace, just as Yoko continues to do to this day.

This relationship was truly a forerunner to what is now becoming a new era of co-investment by women and men to solve world problems.

It is often said, "behind every man is a great woman". In this case, they worked side-by-side, arm-in-arm. And since John has left us, Yoko continues on.

Let us continue on. Please take time today to remember John and give thanks to Yoko and her continued efforts to bring about World Peace.

Lifestyle Lifters - Cupcakes For Cancer

In my TGIF post yesterday, I brought to your attention the fact that October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Today, I want to introduce you to one of my favorite places to get a "lift" - from a delicious treat. The name of the shop is "Crumbs". The one in our small town here in the Gold Coast of Connecticut is always packed.

This month their entire chain is offering a "Pink Cupcake" - vanilla cake filled with vanilla cream cheese frosting topped with light pink vanilla fondant with a mix of pink ribbon quins and pink and white sprinkles around the edge. 20% of proceeds from all sales will be donated to the National Breast Cancer Coalition.

I speak often of how women and men need to co-invest in anything they do. I think you will find this article in Women's Day a prime example of how husband and wife, Jason and Mia, co-owners of Crumbs have made this approach successful.

There are several Crumbs locations on both the East and West coast. Sorry to those of my visitors from outside the US - there are no international shops yet.

But wait a while. I have a feeling it won't be long before the whole world has access to their fabulous line of baked goods!

Lifestyle Lifter -Jennifer McCann, Lifestyle Photographer

Last Sunday evening I participated in the UN Millennium Development Goals (MDG) awards ceremony at the Waldorf-Astoria In NYC.

As I walked down the Red Carpet, I was greeted by the usual barrage of "flash units" from the global press and media outlets that were on hand to cover this annual event which preceded the UN MDG Summit began on Monday of last week.

I paused to allow a picture against the backdrop.

I asked one of the photographers how I might obtain a copy of any photos she had taken. She politely offered that I should contact East of Ellie, the event planner for the evening. I made a mental note of this and proceeded into the reception area to meet up with my other invited guests.

Later that evening, this same photographer approached our group and asked for a photo. How she found me in a room filled with hundreds of people is nothing short of a miracle.

I asked her again how we could obtain a copy of the group photo, and this time she offered her business card and said she would gladly broker the transfer.

Once again, fate deals me an opportunity to introduce to you an extraordinary artist, and a new friend.

Her name is Jenn McCann. Based out of Fairfield County, she is a married, and mother of two beautiful little girls.

Jenn is a "Self-Taught Photographer" and sole proprietor of "Jennifer McCann Photography"

I asked her to give me a little background on her passion:

"I have enjoyed and dabbled in photography for years, but started professionally part time 3 years ago, just went full time this past year, and even in the slow economy, I'm finding my business growing quickly.

I'm a "lifestyle" photographer, I work with natural light, on location- I mainly do family and children's portraits, and weddings- but other areas have included misc. events, product, and even fitness.

I was published in the June 2010 issue of "Shape" Magazine.

I am also contracted by "Family and Children's Aid" in Danbury, CT (A non-profit agency) as the agency photographer to photograph events and clients throughout the year.

I was featured as business of the month at Newtown Savings Bank in July 2010 - in my home town of Bethel.

My style is natural and candid, catching special moments between loved ones. My main goal is to please my clients and try to provide a comfortable, relaxed, and fun atmosphere to ensure great pictures!"

I encourage all of you to visit her website to get a better look at her work. I know many of you are located outside the NY Metro Area, but for the right event, and the right arrangement, I'm sure Jenn will make herself available!

Lifestyle Lifters - Unleash the "Tiger" in You!

As those of you who follow this blog in the US are aware, we traditionally celebrate this weekend in observance of Labor Day.

Nestled within this three day period is another, perhaps more significant "Green Holiday" - National Wildlife Day - September 4. The purpose of this day is two-fold: to increase awareness of endangered animals in the U.S. and around the world, and to acknowledge the work of zoos and animal sanctuaries that help preserve the animal kingdom every day.

In my opinion, one of the most beautiful animals on the planet is the tiger. This species has several forms. All of them are on the endangered list:

Total Population in the Wild: around 3,500
Subspecies:
Bengal tiger (Pantera tigris tigris)
Population: Fewer than 2,000 Status: Endangered Species
The Indochinese tiger (Pantera tigris corbetti)
Population: Fewer than 500. Status: Endangered Species
Malayan Tiger (Pantera tigris jacksoni)
Population: Fewer than 500 Status: Endangered Species
Sumatran tiger (Pantera tigris sumatrae)
Population: Fewer than 500 Status: Critically Endangered Species
Siberian Tiger (Pantera tigris alataica)
Population: Around 500 Status: Endangered Species
South China tiger (Pantera tigris amoyensis)
Population: No sightings in years. Status: Critically Endangered Species

Trends: The Siberian tiger is the only subspecies whose population is stable. The others are declining. Main threats are illegal hunting and habitat loss.

But we are in danger of losing a tiger of a different sort. One that has the personality of a woman born under the Chinese Astrological Sign of the tiger.

The Tiger is the third animal in the Chinese horoscope, after rat and ox, and before rabbit, dragon, snake, horse, sheep, monkey, rooster, dog and boar.

You would be a tiger if you are born between:
  • February 8, 1902 and January 28, 1903
  • January 26, 1914 and February 13, 1915
  • February 13, 1926 and February 1, 1927
  • January 31, 1938 and February 18, 1939
  • February 17, 1950 and February 5, 1951
  • February 5, 1962 and January 24, 1963
  • January 23, 1974 and February 10, 1975
  • February 9, 1986 and January 28, 1987
  • January 28, 1998 and February 15, 1999
The third character profile of the twelve earth branches is that of the Tiger. She is called Yin in Chinese and symbolizes passion and integrity. The Yin or Tiger personality surveys her world and sees it through the eyes of an idealist. Life is a gigantic stage to her, on which she will no doubt be playing many leading roles. Competitive, outspoken and courageous, she will take on any and all comers with a positive "never say die" attitude.

Her primary goal in life is to be involved with something that makes a difference in the world - preferably, a huge difference. A humanitarian at heart, she will always try to support a worthy cause, champion the rights of the underdog and fight for those, like children or animals, who cannot defend themselves. Not one who shrinks from controversy, she tends to be a rebel or an activist if she feels her views are being ignored.

In today's world, where women fight daily for the right to be treated as an equal, we all need to be "tigers". Lift up your fellow woman. Lift their spirits. Lift their Lifestyle. Give them a hand up, not a hand out!

Does your birth date make you a Tiger? Great. Then act like one and the rest of us will play along.

Lifestyle Lifter's - A Dream Holiday in Europe

I know many of you enjoy this segment of the WWRG blog, so while our guest blogger, Evie, continues her hiatus, I offer a suggestion for what a "fantasy holiday" in Europe might entail.

When I was growing up in Asia, my family frequently took advantage of the lengthy summer vacation period and traveled to Europe.

Two of our favorite destinations were Greece and Italy.

These two countries are once again top of my list as would France.

My fantasy holiday would begin in Greece. A trip to Greece is never complete without a visit to Mykonos. Mykonos is so beautiful, it is no accident that it has become one of the most desired destinations in the world. And if you add the cosmopolitan lifestyle, the sophisticated nightlife and the historic treasures of the nearby Delos to its stunning natural beauties and picturesque villages, you’ll have the recipe for an unforgettable holiday.

Although one of the smallest islands of the Cyclades complex, Mykonos is definitely the most famous, thanks to its treasure of natural beauty, rich history, cosmopolitan character combined with a wild nightlife, as well as plenty of local color.

My next destination would be Italy. I would hire a car and drive south to Tuscany where olive groves and some of the finest vineyards abound. As a serial "foodie", this journey would not be complete without dining on authentic Tuscan cuisine while enjoying a view of the rolling hills and beautiful villas.

I would then proceed directly to the glamorous French Riviera. A boat trip along the scenic coastline would include iconic towns such as Nice, Cannes, and St. Tropez and of course, Monaco. After enjoying the private beaches and world-class restaurants there I would complete my fantasy holiday in Paris. After several days at the Peninsula Paris (opening in 2012), I would regretfully return to the U.S., no doubt a few pounds heavier, but many burdens lighter!

BTW - did you know that Tokyo has now passed Paris as the Michelin Guides "city with the world's best restaurants"?

I have another fantasy holiday in Asia to tell you about in a future Lifestyle Lifter's post.

Lifestyle Lifters - Awakening the Dreamer Initiative

In my last Thursday's Truth post, I sited the Peninsula Group of hotels for their leadership in Sustainability efforts at their properties across the globe. It is good corporate citizenship like this that goes a long way toward curing what ills an increasingly dysfunctional world.

As Women of Wealth, many of you feel strongly - a mandate - to use the financial resources entrusted to you to benefit others.

And while many of you are already working toward making our Planet a sustainable, viable, and beautiful place for generations to come, there are also those who are still searching for their role.

If you are one who dreams of a better world, then please look at the efforts of the Awakening The Dreamer Initiative. In the WWRG VIP Featured Video section of the Sidebar to this blog you will find a brief video featuring some of the participants located in Hong Kong.

From humble beginnings as the Pachamama Alliance, it has grown to a worldwide movement.

And just as the Wealthy Women's Resource Guide Network has grown virally and now reaches five continents, so too will movements like Awakening The Dreamer continue to grow exponentially. But they need support.

Please take time today to think about how you can personally support the efforts of Sustainability. Give of your Time, Treasure and Talent in whatever way you feel best.

As you enjoy your weekend and contemplate the week ahead please keep in mind the following quote from one of history's greatest statesmen:

If the human race wishes to have a prolonged and indefinite period of material prosperity, they have only got to behave in a peaceful and helpful way toward one another. - Sir Winston Churchill

TGIF - Today is "I Forgot Day"!

TGIF - Thank Goodness I Forgot.

And today is the day we celebrate our forgetfulness. According to HolidayInsights.com, Gaye Andersen of DeMotte, IN. created this day.

This is what they have to say about it:

I Forgot Day, by definition, is not a day to remember. So, just what are you forgetting? Can you even remember? Is it important? Hopefully, not.

Some days are days to remember and to cherish all of our lives. Others, like today, are ones to be forgotten. If you are having a bad day, it's just as well that today is I Forgot Day. We do hope that you are not getting married or having a baby today.

Some people view today as an opportunity to express their regrets for forgetting something, and to make amends. They do so by sending cards and flowers, apologizing for their memory lapse. The trouble is, if you forget something important tomorrow, you have to wait a whole year for the next I Forgot Day to arrive.

I Forgot Day is closely related to I'm Sorry Day.

FYI - July is also "Unlucky for Weddings Month", so if you so happen to forget to show up for your own wedding today, consider yourself lucky and treat yourself to a Hot Dog and an Ice Cream.

Oh yeah, July is also National Hot Dog and Ice Cream Month!

Have a delightful and safe July 4th weekend. Tune in tomorrow for more Lifestyle Lifter's featuring Evie

I have asked her to provide me with her tips “ Summer Essentials from Head to Toe “ to share with you so that you can look and feel your best this summer !!! Till next week …. Enjoy Life …. Evie

Summer Essentials from Head to Toe

by Shirley Madhère, M.D.

These tips will help you to glow naturally!

Hair
: in summer, the sun may weaken hair by damaging its protein bonds. Use hair-specific sunscreen or, for product-free protection, use scarves, headbands, or head wraps. Also, a healthy scalp leads to healthy hair. Rinse hair as soon as possible after swimming and apply a deep conditioning treatment once or twice weekly, preferably one that helps hair to retain moisture and prevent dryness.

Facial skin
: with warmer temps and higher humidity, switch your facial moisturizer from a cream to a lighter lotion or gel.

Neck and chest
: these parts are often are forgotten in the daily skin routine. Extend application of facial moisturizer and sunscreen onto the neck and skin. Wrinkles in the decolletage may sometimes be managed with Botox or Dysport injections.

Hands
: colds and flus can be year-round. Reduce chances of these nuisances by using good hand hygiene and washing hands as often as needed. After hand washing, apply a moisturizer with sunscreen. This keeps hands soft and less prone to aging "sun spots." "Veiny" hands or hands with deep wrinkles may be improved in appearance by using injectable fillers to plump up the volume.

Torso: one of the best ways to complement a bikini-ready body is to have a toned abdomen ("belly") by eating well. Increase your metabolism in part by increasing your intake of whole plant-based foods as green, leafy vegetables (for fiber and protein) and vibrantly colored fruit (for vitamins and antioxidants).

Thighs
: if cellulite is an issue, recognize that it is the result of a number of factors as stress, excess fat, variegated fat distribution (even in absence of excess fat!), reduced skin elasticity, decreased lymphatic circulation, and others. To manage cellulite in time to be "summer body ready," it is helpful to begin treatments at least 6-8 weeks in advance. In general, there are a number of therapies that may be undertaken together as a part of a complete protocol to help produce a better result, as liposuction, mesotherapy, skin tightening laser, manual lymphatic drainage, topical creams, nutritional adjustments, and stress management techniques. Ask your plastic surgeon for which you are the best candidate.

Body skin
: touchably soft skin is appealing in any season. Skin is your best "accessory," even as it is vitally important organ! Exfoliate skin of the body in the shower with a loofah at least once weekly and follow up with a moisturizer (daily) containing rich emollients (for added smoothness) or alpha hydroxy acids (for sloughing non-viable skin cells).

Feet
: formaldehyde in nail lacquers may discolor nails. Allow your nails to "breathe" from time to time by getting a "bare pedicure", no polish. Also, wearing flip flops potentially exposes feet to more elements-- environmental and non! Prevent cracked heels, which may pose a risk for infection, by keeping feet clean, and moisturized.

Lifestyle Lifters - Evie on Absolute Passion

Life is a journey filled with a variety of emotions. My wish for all of you , is that in your lifetime you experience

ABSOLUTE PASSION “ . Today I bring you Absolute Passion by EvieVision . For more stories and videos on Passion Romance Fashion visit the “ theater “ and the “garden” at www.evievision.com . Till next week …… Enjoy Life , Evie.

What is absolute passion?

Absolute passion is inevitable meetings in lucid dreams, flying high through boundless skies, waltzing barefoot on the linoleum, licking each other is wounds, making love in the afternoon. Every morning awakening through sleep is bleary eyes, passions growing stronger every time; a shining smile alighting the senses, cosmic mirror of translucent eyes revealing fantasies lived last night. Peace and joy at each other is hands. Absolute passion exists in a realm beyond space and time, before you are even aware of its existence it is aware of you.

Absolute passion is an axiom; it simply is.

Otherworldly, intangible, indescribable, inscrutable, je ne sais quoi; the most intricately twisted pattern of subtleties, nuances and minute obscurities, knitted into a gorgeously delectable and completely unknowable entity. Ephemeral beyond rational perception, indivisible; do not try to deconstruct it, just be with it. Let it resonate through your soul like a thousand singing ohms, a vibrating tickle within your neurons.

Absolute passion is a work in progress, an emotional story between a woman and her lover forever unfolding; fluid, morphing, forming and re-forming, converging and merging into one, a journey that is its own reward.

Absolute passion is timeless, formless, senseless, filling the void, bringing stability to wandering souls, rooting and giving faith in the omnipotence of immortal love.

Aaah, love etc without love absolute passion doesn't exist, it cannot subsist, it sputters and fades. With love, absolute passion is eternal; a most ravishing gift from the beyond, the purest spark of fire, internal oceanic rush, release of electron storm.

Never confuse passion with sex. Absolute passion is the ultimate quest. It takes great strength to surrender to vulnerability. Never confuse vulnerability with weakness, it is your greatest asset.

Absolute passion transforms kissing into poetry, hanging on lips like harmonious mantras, on the neck like insatiable goose bumps, on the chest like effortless meditation, on the thighs like honeydew, delicious, extraordinary, precious. Even after long years together the belly still flips in an endless game of wily sensuality, enticement and acquiescence.

Absolute passion is the rarest of faunas, the infinity line where the sea becomes the horizon, mystical threads tying relationships together. You need only have faith in the intangible and reach out for it. Absolute passion is the interplay, mergence of opposites, both pacifying and electrifying, ying-yanging forces in a mysterious impulsive cobweb, mutable, malleable, elemental.

It is salty and sweet rolled into one, light and dark, adventure and rest; a symphony of inexhaustible energies bouncing off each other, the rhythmic dance that guides.

Absolute passion is the apex of emotion, beyond desire and lust, the invisible tie that binds.

Embrace your absolute passion and do not fear it, release it into the universe. Share your warmth, your wants and desires, your emotional scars, your soft side. Lavish your lover with little secrets, reveal your sweet spots and hidden tickle lines, divulge the ceaseless valleys of your mind. Accept the beautiful challenge to discover your lover for the rest of your lives and continue to write your ecstatic story together. Make every kiss like the first time.

Do you dare?

Lifestyle Lifters - Of Service & Sizzle!

Last Saturday I pre-empted my usual Wealthy Women's Lifestyle post to announce the creation of a social network that is a companion to the Wealthy Women's Resource Guide blogsite. We went "live" last Thursday with womenlighte.ning.com and the response to invitations to join has been overwhelming!

Today, though I 'd like to place into the spotlight an organization here in New Canaan, CT that has got it all right - the Young Women's League. Through the leadership of it's current President, Tina Feldman, this organization has grown both in membership and outreach. In addition to raising money for local causes, YWL participates in several programs such as newcanaantravelplanner.org, which offers discount travel services comparable to other websites such as orbitz. A portion of each trip arrangement is donated to the Giving Fund, which is then funneled into local charities. They are also working with I.b.l.a.s.t, another business that benefits local stores and non-profits alike, to generate additional funds.

Those of you who already have access to womenlighte.ning.com can click on the "Group Events" tab to learn more about both of these organizations and perhaps get involved.

The other item you might find interesting in womenlightening is a link to a really great video I found on vivmag.com on how to cook with Agave Juice. If you have never tasted this nectar, you must try this recipe! BTW - I found a subscription to zinio.com (vivmagazine's parent co) is available at our local library for those of you who want to check out the new age of digital publishing. The chairman of Zinio is David Gilmour, who founded Fiji Water, and other commercial ventures. Very few know that profits from Fiji Water products were donated to good cause. David is an example of what wealth can do in the hands of a kind and generous steward.

Lifestyle Lifters: Our new Social Network!

I am pre-empting today's Lifestyle Lifters post which usually covers a unique product, service or approach that may be of interest to my followers, to announce the creation of OUR OWN EXCLUSIVE SOCIAL NETWORK! I have been researching this space for a while now. Many of you may already have a My Space or Facebook page. Generally, though, I don't recommend Women of Wealth use these as they can have unintended consequences.

The one I have created is by invitation only, and will be limited to Women of Wealth that I know and trust, or have been referred to me by an existing member. If you do not receive an invitation and would like to be considered for membership, please ask to be added to our email list by filling out the box in the sidebar to this blog. I will respond back to your email to make sure it is you who is requesting to become a member, then you will receive an invitation to do so.

The Wealthy Women's Resource Guide Network is currently under construction, but should be complete within a few days. Thanks again to those of you who have graciously offered to "test drive" the site. I would invite feedback from anyone as to how we can make this more effective, or more appealing.

My goal is to have those who wish to interact more with other WWRG followers, join us as a group. Of course, if you feel more comfortable remaining anonymous and enjoy passively the posts that I create, that's fine too.

Until next post, continue to Believe, Achieve, Receive. SDG - JBHIV

Lifestyle Lifters: Hometown She-roes!

Those of you who I know follow this blog in the US and other countries around the world may not be able to take immediate advantage of what I am about to share with you. There is, however, deeper meaning, and a call to action contained herein. Women of Wealth have a tremendous opportunity to make a difference. Their capacity, when combined with a strong Moral Compass, creates a Social Biography that can influence and motivate others and solve real problems in our society - local and global.

A case in point are the efforts of two local women here in New Canaan, Carolyn Williams and Barbara Davis, who watched with growing concern this last year as the number of vacant stores seemed to rise and their friends increasingly shopped out of town to save money. Davis a former lawyer and Williams a former sales trader at Morgan Stanley, pooled their brain power to come up with a way to save their town. Last October, they launched Ib.l.a.s.t., an acronym for “I Buy Local and Shop in Town”. The Ib.l.a.s.t. card rewards local residents for shopping in New Canaan stores through special deals and savings incentives.

Now, barely 5 months later, more than 65 merchants are participating, 600-plus cards have been sold; and 7 nonprofits are fundraising with iblast. Plus, Barbara and Carolyn have started an online local exchange (a la craigslist) that connects you with goods, services and recommendations from other people in the town. Other towns are contacting them to see if similar services can be set up in their communities.

Their success is a prime example of how we can make a difference in the lives of others. Beyond the obvious commercial success this brings to store owners and communities, Iblast helps non-profits raise money during a period of increasingly shrinking donations.

In Carolyn's own words: "One of the reasons we started Iblast is to give non-profits a way to raise money in this economy. Over the course of the last 10 years volunteering in town, we have witnessed a decline in the local merchant's ability to support the non-profits in town. We wanted to come up with something that would help raise money for the non-profits and help support our local merchants at the same time. 11 non profits are already fundraising with Iblast but we have only scratched the surface".

Hats off to our local Hometown "She-roes"! If any of you out there in the blogosphere have other stories of how Women of Wealth are making a difference, let me know and I will pass them along in future lifestyle lifter posts.
